Basic Soda Slip

From Gail Nichol's book, Soda, Clay and Fire:

Basic Soda Slip

Neph Sy 10

Kaolin 80

Silica 10

Bentonite 5

For:

Blue: .25 - 1 % Cobalt Carb

Red/Brown 1 - 5 % Iron

Oxide Purple/Black 1 - 5 % Manganese Dioxide

Gold 1 - 5 % Rutile

Turquoise/ Green/ Red 2 - 10 % Copper Carb

Or use commercial stains in amounts between 5 - 10 %

Planning to mix this up to test in the upcoming firing. To be honest I am fighting a temptation to go long: mix up a whole bunch, and just trust Gail on this one. Nonono! Repeat as necessary: it's best to test.
