I really would love a recipe to follow to fire my gas kiln, and this comes close. I'm having good luck so far with getting reds-starting reduction at 850 c-but haven't tried to back off the reduction much and the clay is HEAVILY reduced! The comments on how long the flames should be out the spy holes is great! No one has ever told me that! <br />Anyway, thanks!Marian Williamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08293178858923587499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-650505838849412496.post-16947935404307741822010-04-19T22:32:57.873-07:002010-04-19T22:32:57.873-07:00Thanks for the post. (It was something about body reduction, no doubt.) Something went awry, whether the copper oxidized or burned off, but I got sky blues instead of copper reds. Pretty stuff, and since I fire kilns that mix my work and other student work, luckily none of them were upset... but still. So next time I'll start a bit earlier and see what that does. Apparently the early reduction helps with carbon trapping in shinos, too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
